Why should everyone turn vegetarian if they have an option?

Now, before all the non vegetarian readers start criticising the title, I promise to convince you all with some relevant points that will make your mind think again about your eating  routine.

I mentioned about "having an option to turn into a vegetarian" in the title as the fact cannot be ignored that the tribes dwelling in the forests have no option but to feed on the animals.

Following are the counter arguments for some common beliefs which keep roaming everywhere when we talk about this subject.

• Need for consuming meat

Long back, when people didn't know cooking, they used to shoot down animals to fill their stomach. In the present scenario, we have come quite far through food industry. Therefore, we now don't need to harm those animals to satisfy our hunger.

• Controlling their population by consumption

This is literally the lamest excuse to justify being a non vegetarian. People think if they don't eat meat, it would pose a threat to the environment because of the increased population of animals. If that's the case, even human population is escalating tremendously. Let's think of a solution...kill them? Obviously not.

And also, why do you think you're given the authority to decide anything about their lives? If population control is that serious a concern, there's a separate department among the forest enthusiasts to find practical solutions regarding this matter.

If we talk generally, no human would be ready to give away his/her dead body to a lion to fill his stomach. Everyone wants a proper ritual to be followed after their death. So isn't it unfair to those creatures to have their bodies slaughtered LIVE and burnt for our consumption? We cannot even imagine that feeling when we are forced to stand in a queue just to wait for our turn to sacrifice our lives without even being asked.

Also, it's absolutely WRONG to think that animals are supposed to die in such a brutal manner to sustain human life. Every life deserves a respectful cremation after it reaches termination.

•Vegetarians cause global warming

Almost all the meat eaters have built this myth and use this statement to criticize vegetarian people. They should know meat consumption rather aggregates the already existing issue of global warming and rise in greenhouse effect.

The livestock sector — raising cows, pigs and chickens — generates as much greenhouse gas emissions as all cars, trucks and automobiles combined. Cattle ranchers have clear cut millions of square kilometers of forests for grazing pastures, decimating natural “carbon sinks.”

These were a few myths which I thought, were essential to throw light on. Now let me share with you a few advantages of being vegetarian.

1) A low-fat vegetarian diet is the single most effective way to stop the progression of coronary artery disease or prevent it entirely.
